From Vision to Vibrancy: Reflecting on 2024’s Creative Milestones
As we close out another remarkable year, we want to take a moment to reflect on the exciting progress we’ve made in Marshalltown. Together, we’ve celebrated, connected, and advocated for the power of creativity at the heart of our community.
This past year was transformative, with our focus on public-private partnerships helping Marshalltown evolve into a true hub of innovation and vibrancy. By placing creativity at the center of our community, we’ve made significant progress on the City’s Arts & Culture Master Plan. Through this approach, the arts have become even more accessible and impactful for all. As we move forward with the Master Plan’s continued implementation, we’re seeing the vital role that arts and culture play in attracting, retaining, and engaging residents and visitors.
2024 was a year of incredible milestones. We worked alongside the Chamber and the City to re-imagine the Linn Creek District, launching initiatives like the Ann C. Keyser Trailhead and Apgar Family Water Plaza—projects set to break ground in 2025. We celebrated local talent through our Summer Artist Series, bringing together Marshalltown artists, food, and music in the heart of Downtown. In partnership with the Marshalltown Community School District, we empowered over 40 students with the Marshalltown High School’s Student Senate through the Embrace the Lead initiative, and we transition the Culture Festival to Downtown, amplifying our culturally diverse businesses. In September, the Chamber hosted the Professional Developers of Iowa’s Annual Conference, where we helped highlight how the arts contribute to economic growth and social cohesion. And most notably, we announced our relocation to downtown Marshalltown.
As we mark 20 years of leading the development of a creative community, we’re energized by all that we’ve accomplished and the limitless possibilities that lie ahead. Together, we’ve demonstrated the incredible power of arts and culture, and we remain committed to a future where Marshalltown continues to thrive as a unique, vibrant, and inclusive place for all.
